The Big City, at Long Last...

As I mentioned in Days of Corn and Honey, we are moving to Oklahoma City this summer! Our lovely home, we've enjoyed for four years in Weatherford, is for sale... See Craigslist Listing here...

our backyard in Dubtown
We're engaged in the excited/busy process of house shopping, and we can't wait to settle into the metro. We'll be closer to Ryan's parents, closer to the airport (for those East coast visits), closer to all our fave music venues... It's gonna be great! And to those of you who've voiced concern about the holding of a certain annual autumnal festivity... worry not, my dears. All is well.

The Days of Corn and Honey...

Ryan and I were a part of alternative-country/ retro-rock band Green Corn Revival from February 2009 until March 2012. The past three years were filled with hard work, excitement, travel, performance, practice, meeting other wonderful musicians, and much more. We loved (love) the music we helped good friend, and founder/writer, Jared Deck, create. We loved the time with talented friends, making music together. We wish GCR all the success in the world. To read more about GCR's accomplishments thus far, see www.greencornrevival.com.
In March 2012, we made the difficult decision to separate from Green Corn Revival, and pursue our own musical project. Around the summer of 2009 I  had begun a crazy-productive writing phase (which is actually ongoing) and soon the talented Ryan Houck and I had created several albums worth of songs we loved. Here's the deal... It's one thing to like/tolerated/accept your own songs (I'd been doing that since my teens)... But these songs, we loved. There's a first time for everything, I guess. :) We named our bouncing-baby-project Honeylark. And she is a mixed bag, my dears. Words can't describe our anticipation/fulfillment in this collection. But, that said, don't expect a full-throttle pace. We're taking this one easier. Because with two growing, beautiful children, two day jobs we enjoy, and an impending relocation to Oklahoma City... well, we kinda have to. :) We've put some demos of the album material out there for your curiosity, though... And, before long, you'll be able to catch a show in the OKC metro area. Check Honeylark out now, if you like, at www.honeylark.com. You can also Like us on Facebook.

The Times They are a Changing...

Hey there. I'm back... I wasn't really gone... just got busy living for the past 3 years or so. But I'm making a mid-April resolution (haha) to keep a journal here... of our crazy goings on, for your following enjoyment, information, entertainment, etc... and seriously folks... The Times, They are a Changing....Bob Dylan's "The Times They are a Changing"

By Request... The Cookie Recipe :)

Nat's Spicy Oat-Nut-Choc-Cran Cookies (big glass of milk optional :)

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 C all-purpose flour
1/2 C whole wheat flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 C white sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 C quick oats
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 C chopped walnuts
6 oz. dark chocolate chips or chunks (1/2 bag)
1/2 C dried cranberries ( I like craisins...try orange flavored for a holiday flavor twist!)

In a large bowl blend butter and sugar. Add vanilla, eggs, mix well. Add dry ingredients, mix well. Drop by rounded tsp onto ungreased sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for about 9 minutes (chewy) or 10/11 min (crunchy).
Makes about 6 dozen... I like bigger cookies, so I make fewer. Freezes well, too!

Merry Christmas & Bon Appetite! :)

Ryan's New Ride...

Ryan always wanted a motorcycle; since he was a little boy Gavin's age. And his Mama always vetoed the idea. As did his wife when he finally grew up and wanted to get one. But the times they are a changing... with gas prices what they are, getting around town and back and forth from his Studio (On Route 66, don't worry Moms!) will only cost about $3-5 bucks a month on this new ride... well, let's just say Ryan is a happy boy tonight!

So the shiny new toy Gavin calls "Daddy's mota-cycle" is really an electric scooter that sounds like a weed-eater. It won't even reach it's top speed with the Wookie on it... and I like that alot... So everyone's happy here in Houck-ville. :)
He even let me take her for a spin... I topped out at about 18mph. I like to live on the edge. :)
